Keepmoat’s unveiling of sales centre and show homes in Allerton Bywater proves a success

Housing and regeneration specialist, Keepmoat has opened its new show homes and sales centre at The Potteries development in semi-rural Allerton Bywater, Castleford. The £25m development when completed will consist of 189 new 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes and are already proving to be a success with 10 homes already occupied and a further 23 reserved since work started on site February of this year.

The Potteries development marks the final phase of The Millennium Village. The name ‘The Potteries’ was chosen for the development due to the areas rich history with Pottery Manufacturing. House types will therefore be named after Famous UK Potteries such as ‘The Glaze’ and ‘The Wedgewood’ which are the names of the two outstanding 3 and 4 bedroom show homes. Spread over 3 floors, both show homes are airy, spacious and filled with light due to the contemporary designed large windows.  The sale centre and show homes launch event had a great turn out with Keepmoat’s partners HCA, Leeds City Council and Priority Space Limited representatives in attendance to share in the significant day.

Naomi Beckett, Area Manager for Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) stated, “The opening of the show homes is a real milestone as the last phase of this development starts to take shape. The design quality is in keeping with the previous three phases but brings Keepmoat’s unique style to the new homes. Working in partnership with Keepmoat means that we are ensuring that high quality homes are being provided for local people on what was once derelict land.”

Mark Knight Regional Managing Director for Keepmoat Homes in Yorkshire commented:

“We are delighted to be able to be part of the final piece of such a wonderful housing scheme. We’re always committed to not just provide housing to an area but to help regenerate and commit to the community that we are in – which is why it is great to see members of the community here today, from Allerton Bywater’s Parish Councillors to the new residents and local eatery Samuel Valentine who also catered our event. We’ve already implemented a wheelchair access path at local St Mary’s Church and taken part in local community event, the Allerton Bywater Scarecrow Festival. These are just a couple of the many things we look forward to engaging with the community over the next 5 years”

As well as delivering 189 new homes, Keepmoat will also be developing circa 30,000 sqft of Commercial Development which comprises of retail and light industrial units via their Commercial partner Priority Space Limited. The Potteries development will also employ a minimum of 4 new apprenticeships and 9 full time jobs for local people.
